Circle mobiles

"Baby Shower Ideas" from tutus and turtles. Image from Martha Stewart's Baby Shower Guide.

While I'm sure there are some great baby shower ideas in this guide from Martha Stewart, I mostly just love those mobiles. So simple, yet so eye catching. And easy to DIY! Couldn't you just see that over a crib?

Fingerpaint Wall Art

"Fingerpaint Wall Art" from tutus and turtles, found via DesignMom.

Let child fingerpaint a canvas in chosen colors. Then personalize the art with hand and foot prints, attractively capturing and displaying child's growth.

Seed Bottles

From "Amber's Shower" via bijougirl etc.

I told you I was into seed favors lately. When all my friends start having babies, I will have to remember this. Baby bottles filled with wild flower seeds and said "Plant, water, love, grow" and "It's a girl!" Could you pair this with wheat grass to complete the theme??

Robot Inspired Room

Zane's Robot-inspired Room from OhDeeDoh.

Look at this awesome nursery. Inspiration came from a robot picture that Zane's dad painted, and they've used a collection of new and vintage robots to complete the theme. The gears were painted on the wall using a projector. I love the bright, bold colors and the not-too-overwhelming motif. Plus, the gears remind me of one of my greatest design projects from school. Maybe I could even incorporate the little Eureka man.

Patchwork Coasters

Coaster-ing from I heart linen

Look at these lovely patchwork coasters. Again, another project I think I can handle. Oh darling friends of mine, forget you saw this because you may be seeing it again under your Christmas tree.

Fabric Calendar

Calendar Girl by I heart linen

I think I can handle a similar project. More design than sewing. And I think I know just the person to give this to. Maybe I can actually start this summer, and be ready by Christmas.

"I was tossing and turning and just couldn't sleep because I had this silly idea dancing in my head, so I got up and started picking fabrics, covering and stamping buttons, pulling the stems off the buttons and gluing velcro coins to the backs like a mad woman. I made enough buttons for 31 days + 7 blank ones for the "other days" of the calendar and for leap years. and then I stamped up some linen ribbon for the months! I left the back very simple with some waffle fabric and some gentle embellishments."
